Santa Rosa Plateau Garden Tour

This unique self-guided tour features six five-acre estate properties located in the spectacular equestrian enclaves of La Cresta Highlands and Tenaja bordering the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve in rural Murrieta.

There will be informative 30-minute organic gardening and native plant seminars at certain locales. Seminar topics include container gardening with succulents; flower arrangements from your garden, drip irrigation and water conservation.

There will also be art shows and live musical performances to serenade you while strolling the gardens.

New additions for the 2011 tour include A California ranch shaded with ancient oaks and accented with artisan rock work; a whimsical succulent creation and cactus garden, a Tuscan estate enveloped by vineyards, unique water features and creative outdoor spaces.

You may want to enjoy a lovely “Lunch in the Garden” provided by for an additional fee at a designated garden site. Lunch will consist of either a salad or sandwich entrée, dessert and a cold drink.

New this year is the Garden Tour Opportunity Drawing that includes a first prize helicopter ride for three passengers over the Santa Rosa Plateau; second prize tickets to tour the Presidential Helicopter and Museum at the Nixon Library, and third prize, a private hike for four on the Santa Rosa Plateau with Reserve Interpreter Rob Hicks.  Winning tickets will be drawn at the garden tour lunch site on April 30.  Ticket holders need not be present to win.

This event is also a fundraiser for the third grade education programs at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve.  The programs serve approximately 7,000 students from 8 school districts and 65 schools each school year.
