Luiseno DAR December meeting

The December meeting of the Luiseno Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be held on December 20th at the Colony Grill in Murrieta.   The special guest speaker for the meeting will be Keith
Bennett of US Vets.  US Vets is an organization that offers housing, counseling, and a future to formerly homeless vets.  They are located at the March Air Reserve Station in Perris. The Luiseño Chapter has had an interest in the work of the US Vets for several years and always looks forward
to hearing of the progress made by this important program.  In addition to the special guest speaker, the group will, once again, be collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program in celebration of the holiday season.

DAR membership is open to any woman who is able to trace her heritage to ancestors who were of help to the American Revolution.  Luiseno Chapter Registrar, Marsha
Timberlake, can provide guidance and assistance to anyone wishing to apply for membership.

The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded
in 1890.  Currently, there are approximately 165,000 members in the 3,000 chapters throughout the United States and 11 foreign countries.  Any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to become a member.  A patriot is described as someone who may have fought in the war, given arms, funds, medical or other supplies, taken the Oath of Allegiance, or in any way contributed to
the cause.  For more information regarding membership or to attend the meeting, phone Marsha Timberlake at 951 677-7443.
