Veterans to be Recognized by Local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)

The Luiseno Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.  (A special meeting time for the Chapter.)

The meeting will be held at the Assistance League, 28720 Via Montezuma, Temecula, located behind the former Sizzler Restaurant. The meeting will focus on the veteran guests that will be attending the meeting. It is expected that the invited guests will cover a wide variety of military services and experiences.

DAR meetings are open to any woman interested in tracing her heritage to ancestors of the American Revolution. The Luiseno Chapter Registrar will provide guidance and assistance to anyone wishing to apply for membership.

The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890. Currently, there are approximately 165,000 members in the 3,000 chapters throughout the United States and 11 foreign countries. Any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to become a member. A patriot is described as someone who may have fought in the war, given arms, funds, medical or other supplies, taken the Oath of Allegiance, or in any way contributed to the cause.

Luiseno Chapter meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month from September through May. Meetings begin at 11:30 am. For more information, phone Membership Chairperson, Deborah Stemwedel at 951-244-4883.
