Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold in Murrieta

While no one managed to match all six numbers in Friday’s MEGA Millions draw, one lucky ticket worth $162,859 was sold in Murrieta.

The ticket was purchased at . The ticket matched the numbers 49, 41, 53, 20 and 23, missing only the mega number of 31, lottery officials said in a news release.

Because no one matched all six numbers in the June 3 draw, tonight's MEGA Millions jackpot is worth $24 million.

No one has come forward to claim the winning ticket sold in Murrieta, said Cathy Johnston, a spokesperson for the California Lottery.

The winning ticket marks the second time this year a winning ticket has been sold in Murrieta. .

Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes.

The California Lottery reminded winners in a news release to sign the back of their ticket, keep tickets in a safe place and contact lottery officials or visit their local lottery district office as soon as possible.

MEGA Millions is a multistate game, played in California and 41 other states. Players pick five numbers from 1 to 56 plus a Mega number from 1 to 46. Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers.

The California Lottery is celebrating 25 years of enhancing education and supporting local communities, according to the news release. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by players goes back to the community in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation.
