Teens Invited to 'Hunger Games' Challenge at Library

The Murrieta Public Library invites teens to a challenge modeled after "The Hunger Games" book by Suzanne Collins.

The growing popularity of "The Hunger Games" book by Suzanne Collins has prompted the Murrieta Public Library to join the game.

Teens in grades sixth through 12th are invited to "The Hunger Games" Challenge, which is set to take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17.

“Over the past year, this book has grown in popularity with teenage as well as adult readers,” said Teen Librarian Joyce Lea Brown, in a news release. “Friends tell friends about this book and requests for it just keep growing."

The event will include trivia questions, crossword puzzles and a Cornucopia Game, all based on the book. The program “arena” will be the Murrieta Public Library’s Community Room.

"It’s an intense book and right at the top of what teens want to read now! The question for the participants is: can they survive challenging 'The Hunger Games' trivia questions?" Brown said.

"Teens can snack on survival foods while they participate in individual and team activities, and a Cornucopia Game that will test their memory and survival skills. Who will be the last teen and team standing?"
