Storm Expected to Hit Region Sunday

Chance of precipitation was expected to be 100 percent after 11 a.m. Sunday in Murrieta, according to NWS.

A Pacific storm was scheduled to reach the Inland area Sunday, bringing with it about a half-inch of rain and snow in the mountains measuring 3 to 6 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

The main band of precipitation was expected to spread south and east into Riverside County Sunday afternoon through evening after moving into Orange County and far southwestern San Bernardino County by late Sunday morning, the NWS reported on its website.

A period of moderate to briefly heavy precipitation was expected late Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening in the Inland region, according to the report.

Chance of precipitation was expected to be 100 percent after 11 a.m. Sunday in Murrieta, according to NWS, with a high of 63.

Sunday's storm was not predicted to be as cold as last weekend's, with snow levels expected at 4,500-5,000 feet with several inches of snowfall above 6,000 feet.

Showers were expected to continue late Sunday night and end Monday morning, the NWS said.

A wind advisory in the Inland Empire was in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, with winds south to southwest at 15-25 miles per hour and gusts up to 40 mph, according to the NWS. The strongest winds are anticipated by mid- afternoon through early evening Sunday.

The Weather Service warned that the strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
