Storm Brings More Than Inch of Rain to Murrieta
The National Weather Service reported Sunday that the late-winter storm brought 1.18 inches of rainfall to Murrieta.
A late-winter storm that drenched the region dumped more than an inch of rain in Murrieta, the National Weather Service reported.
The NWS reported that as of 8:45 p.m. Sunday, the storm, which first struck Saturday morning, had dropped 0.61 inches in Riverside, 2.09 in Beaumont, 0.78 inches in Hemet, 1.10 in Lake Elsinore, 1.18 in Murrieta and 1.42 inches in Temecula.
That brings the rainfall total for Murrieta since July 1, 2011, to 7.06 inches, according to WeatherCurrents.com. During the 2010-2011 season, which ended June 30, 2011, Murrieta received 20.77 inches of rain, the website reports. The normal rainfall total for this time of year is 14.47 inches, according to the website.

The tail-end of the storm moved eastward across Riverside County early today, dropping more rainfall and snow.

Before the storm clears out completely later today, it could release an additional quarter-inch of rain in the valleys and up to four inches of additional snow in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service. The snow level was near 3,000 feet this morning.
A winter weather advisory was in effect in mountain areas until 9 a.m. today.
In the mountains, the first two days of the storm brought three inches of snow in Cherry Valley, 11 inches in Pine Cove and 13 inches in Idyllwild.
A frost advisory for the valleys is scheduled from late tonight until early Tuesday. During the advisory period, temperatures in the valleys will fall to near freezing, according to the NWS.
