UPDATE: Power Restored to Murrieta Residents

Customers lose power south of Murrieta Hot Springs Road.

UPDATE 1:40 p.m.: While several communities across the region were dealing with power outages Thursday--some to due the strong winds--Southern California Edison reported power had been restored to those in Murrieta.

A notification on SCE's website warned residents: "With high winds expected in our area, remember to stay far away from power lines. Never touch a downed power line. If you see a downed wire, call 911 right away."

Just north of Murrieta, 2,263 customers were without power in an unicorporated area west of Interstate 215 and north and south of Scott Road.

SCE was working to restore power, and did not list a cause of the outage.

At least 141 customers were without power in Murrieta Thursday morning.

Two separate outages in adjacent neighborhoods near Murrieta Hot Springs and Margarita roads, and Date Street, lost electricity at about 8 a.m. Thursday, according to the Southern California Edison website.

The website stated the estimated restoration time was 4 p.m.

The report stated the outages were caused by equipment problems.
