Rain Expected to Hit Murrieta

Light to moderate rainfall is forecast beginning Tuesday afternoon in Murrieta.

There is an 80 percent chance of rain Tuesday in Murrieta, the National Weather Service is reporting.

The showers will likely hit Murrieta mainly after 4 p.m. and last through 10 p.m., according to the weather service.

"A Pacific weather system will move into southwestern California Tuesday afternoon and evening...bringing periods of light precipitation to the region," according to a special weather statement issued by NWS out of San Diego.

Rainfall is expected to be light to moderate, with less than a quarter of an inch forecast.

Still, it has been more than two weeks since the last rainfall, so the weather service advised to drive carefully.

"Roadways could be slippery...especially during the onset of the rain and during the afternoon rush hour due to oil buildup on the roads," NWS stated.

A high temperature of 62 was predicted for Tuesday.

The snow level in mountain areas could drop to 6,000 feet, according to NWS.

There is also a chance of rain Wednesday morning, mainly before 10 a.m, with a high of 69 that day.

No rain is expected the rest of the week. Thursday will likely see a high near 75, according to the weather service.
