Rain, Cooler Temps Forecast for Southwest Riverside County

A seven-day forecast for the region indicated the chances of precipitation would increase daily, with the greatest chance on Friday night.

Rain showers and cooler temperatures are likely in southwest Riverside County over the next several days, according to weather officials.

Beginning Wednesday night, there was a chance of rain during the evening hours, the National Weather Service reported. A seven-day forecast for the Inland Empire region indicated the chances of precipitation would increase daily, with the greatest chance on Friday night.

Cloud coverage and rain could continue through the early part of next week, according to forecasters.

High temperatures in the 60s and low temperatures in the 40s were also expected.

Here is the National Weather Service's seven-day forecast for the region as of 5 p.m. Wednesday:

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Slight chance of showers in the evening...then chance of showers overnight. Lows 50 to 60. Light winds. Chance of measurable precipitation 50 percent.

Thursday: Cloudy in the morning...becoming mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Highs 63 to 70. Light winds. Chance of measurable precipitation 50 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Lows 49 to 59. Light winds. Chance of measurable precipitation 40 percent.

Friday: Showers likely. Highs 60 to 67. Light winds. Chance of measurable precipitation 70 percent.

Friday Night: Showers. Lows 46 to 56. Light winds.

Saturday: Showers likely. Highs 58 to 66.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers. Lows 42 to 52.

Sunday: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs 53 to 61.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers. Colder. Lows 36 to 46.

Monday: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs 52 to 60.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers. Colder. Lows 31 to 40.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy. Highs 54 to 62.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear. Lows 34 to 44.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Highs 60 to 67.

The following is the press release from MPD: On 05-21-13, at 3:27 AM, the Murrieta Police Department received a call of a water-main break in the area of California Oaks Road and Monroe Avenue. Murrieta Police and Murrieta Fire Department initially responded to the scene and discovered a large sinkhole in the westbound lanes of California Oaks Road just west of Jackson Avenue. The sinkhole was approximately 4 feet deep and about 20 feet across. The hydraulic pressure from the water-main break appears to have created this sinkhole and damaged all the westbound lanes of California Oaks from approximately Jackson to Monroe. As a result, the westbound lanes of California Oaks between Jackson and Monroe will be closed for repair until further notice. Rancho Water Officials estimate that these repairs will take approximately one week to complete. When traveling in this area please expect delays and plan an alternate route in order to arrive at your destination on time.
