Rain Closes Sports Fields

City-run sports fields in Murrieta will not be available for use Tuesday afternoon or evening.

Rainfall in Murrieta has caused the city to close its sports fields for the rest of the day Tuesday, according to an emailed announcement.

The closure affects all parks allocated by the city of Murrieta.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the email said.

"All lights will be turned off for tonight and not charged.

"Please remind all parents and coaches for the preservation of the fields to remain off of them for this evening."

An updated forecast from the National Weather Service reports a 100 percent chance of rain Wednesday.

Scattered showers were expected to continue in the region until about 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the weather service, which advised motorists to use caution on slick roads and in dense fog.
