Library: Valentine's Activities Set for Little, Big Kids

Youth in grades sixth through 12th can make chocolate covered banana bonbons, while children in grades kindergarten through fifth are invited to a cookie decorating party.

There will be sweets aplenty at two separate events set for the week of Valentine's Day at the Murrieta Public Library.

First, culinary expert Mia Cucuta will demonstrate how to make chocolate covered banana bonbons from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 in the Library’s Community Room. is for children in grades sixth through 12th.

A former employee of Murrieta Cooks, the Library said Cucuta is well-known in the area for her expert advice and background in making easy and savory dishes and desserts.

“This is a great opportunity to learn how to make a simple and delicious dessert in addition to making delectable chocolate snacks!" said Librarian Laura Davis, in a news release.

"After Ms. Cucuta’s demonstration, participants will have an opportunity to sample the bonbons created as well as dip pretzels and strawberries that will also be made during the program.”

The free event is limited to 20 participants. Tickets are available at 3:30 p.m. at the Reference Desk.

Then at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, the Library is hosting a for children in grades kindergarten through fifth.

The Library will supply an assortment of cookies, trimmings and colorful icing, and the children will supply the imagination to decorate them.

The free activity is limited to 50 children. Tickets will be available 30 minutes prior to the program. Parents are encouraged to come early and carpool if possible, Library staff advised.
