Inventors Group to Conduct Local Survey

Valley Innovators plans to canvas local gas stations to survey commuters.

Valley Innovators, , will be spearheading a campaign to find out where commuters are going in the morning, how far they travel and their level of interest in working to form innovative companies in the Murrieta/Temecula Twin Cities area.

The end result will be to eventually get them off the roads in the morning by creating more job opportunities here in the valley, according to a Twin Cities news release.

George Bennett, chairman of the newly formed Valley Innovators, will visit local gas stations in the early morning hours Nov. 8 through Nov. 10 to talk to commuters before they head to work. Along with several colleagues, they hope to canvas several area gas stations over the course of two days.

“This will be a random statistical sample of commuters,” Bennett said. “From this research, we expect to find out where people are traveling to for jobs.”

The early-morning surveys will also serve another purpose: to inform people of the Valley Innovators group Bennett has recently formed with the Twin Cities.

The group seeks to attract inventors and provide an opportunity for business creation, financing and accelerated growth for inventors with big ideas but lacking the know-how to turn their inventions into a profitable business, according to the news release.

“The main focus here is job creation,” said Temecula’s Assistant City Manager Aaron Adams. “We know that we have talent leaving the area every day to drive down the freeway and work in other places. We want to keep that talent here and encourage them to grow.”

Bruce Coleman, Economic Development Director for the city of Murrieta, agreed.

“The Murrieta/Temecula area is very entrepreneurial and we want to work closely with Valley Innovators to help our very talented residents find the resources that they need to create new start-up technology businesses here. That was the original purpose of the Murrieta Inventors and Entrepreneurs Society meeting we held recently which has now grown in a few weeks to be a regional valley-wide group. Let’s grow our own tech businesses here. We look forward to the research and the efforts of the Valley Innovators,” Coleman said.

The group is seeking to answer three questions from every single inventor in this valley:

  • Do you have a list of ideas for inventions or a business?
  • What are the barriers standing in your way?
  • What do you need to do to make your ideas happen?

To submit answers to these questions, please send responses to George Bennett at valleyinnovators@gmail.com.

The next meeting for the group will be held on different days and at varying times to allow commuters and those with children the opportunity to attend:

  • 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Marie Callender’s in Temecula
  • 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Co-Working Connection (25185 Madison Ave., Murrieta)
  • 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Co-Working Connection (There will be a $5/person fee at the door for the meetings at the Co-Working Connection.)
