Hot Temps to Last Through Weekend

Temperatures in Murrieta will remain at the century-mark or above through the weekend, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

Don't put the summer fans away yet--the heat was expected to stick around for a few more days, the National Weather Service reported.

As part of a strong ridge of high pressure over Southern California, temperatures were expected to reach near 103 degrees today and Friday in Murrieta.

Over the weekend, when a cooling trend was expected to start, Saturday and Sunday were forecast with highs near 101. Monday was expected to bring 97-degree weather.

Beach cities were forecast for the mid- to high-70s over the weekend, with the warmest day on Saturday.

In desert areas of Riverside County, where an excessive heat warning has been issued, temperatures will reach near 119 on Friday.
