The building that formerly housed Cal Oaks Burgers in Murrieta has been torn down to make way for a new McDonald's, Patch has learned.

Murrieta City Planner Cynthia Kinser confirmed Thursday that plans are in the works for golden arches on the property at 40605 California Oaks Road in the shopping center across from California Oaks Sports Park.

Patch will keep you updated on the project as more information is gathered.

We don't need another McDonald's in Murrieta.
Megan May 30, 2013 at 05:12 PM
I'm with Marcela! Another McDonalds is just asinine.

McDonald's had its golden arches on Cal Oaks once before. They used to be in the Mobil gas station, about 20 years ago...

So the one on hancock and the one on madison weren't enough?
Katie Rucker May 30, 2013 at 07:01 PM
@Winston, and Los Alamos!! Seriously, we don't another one! Put in something good, something fresh!

....And the one in Walmart ...and the one off Clinton Keith/15.... Yeah, I think we're good on the McDonalds in our area. Would have been nice to have a Five Guys there. :-/

Other than bringing jobs to the City, fast food makes me barf… Funny, yesterday I read that the CEO of McDonald's said that we can still eat their food and lose 20lbs just by jogging, as he did it …

We need whatever business that wants to spend the money to build the place. If you don't like McD's then don't go but I'm sure a lot of people will

That place will be a gold mine. As a MCD shareholder, I look forward to profiting off all the lazy parents that don't pack their kids a lunch or fix a healthy dinner.

I for one am happy that McDonalds is opening. I do like their food. They also have other options other than burger & fries. If you don't like it don't go there. Atleast McDonalds is will to bring their business & jobs here in Murrieta. Isn't tha what we need? Yes, it's close to schools. Perfect location for our own high school students to be able & get part time jobs. Also, for those lazy parents that drop off their kids at Shivela at 7 in the morning, kids can go and eat some breakfast, instead of sitting on the side walk close to the road or laying on the sidewalk. I see that every morning when I drive my daughter to Mesa at 7:15 in the morning. Shivela doesn't even start till about 9am. My daughter started working part time at McDonalds her senior year. She's still working there, now as a manager & attending college. McDonalds worked around her schedule & has learned a lot. Someone said, what not bring something "fresh", send Fresh & Easy a message... They had a brand new building, built on Jackson & Nutmeg. Then what? Nothing. They did not open. Why? Just my thoughts.
dawntasher May 31, 2013 at 06:53 PM
Gross. I agree with Patti, this is targeting our kids. I guess it helps the area economy as we will need more healthcare!
MonaRoloson May 31, 2013 at 07:15 PM
Targeting our kids? If your kids are with you, then don't take them. My kids are with me, if I don't want them to eat there, I don't take them. If you let your kids wonder around, then I guess that's the problem. If they want a burger that bad, they could also walk to Ralphs or the quick stop, even if there's no McDonalds around. I feel kids should not be wondering around unsupervised.
Mike May 31, 2013 at 07:41 PM
OMG! Blame McD's for you kids health! McD's strategically placed this to capture Shivela & Mesa kids, that's called business.

I had a feeling they were either going to put a bank or a fast food joint with a drive-thru, once the old building got torn down. This Mcdonalds will be a gold mine for the owner since it is so close to the school across the street. I can already see the teens hanging around the restaurant before and after school. Maybe this will decrease the vacancy at the shopping center, as it will add more foot traffic to the area.

Is McDonalds worse for our kids health than Cal Oaks Burger was? Or for that matter: Dairy Queen, KFC, Carl's Jr., Little Caersars, or Burger King? All of these are also within walking distance of the 2 schools and nobody seems to have a problem with any of that crap. Why all of a sudden an uproar about McD's? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that we and our kids will actually have a HEALTHIER option at the new Golden Arches!! (As sad as that is)
PD June 01, 2013 at 02:30 PM
...and for that matter, I bet half of you moms dissing McD's take your kids to Chick Fil A. Because that is SO much healthier!!
liss June 04, 2013 at 04:40 PM
