Get Out: Five Ideas for Your Weekend

Fall-tastic pumpkins, costumes and carnivals plus networking and jazz.

Just because we live in sunny California doesn’t mean we don’t know how to do fall right! Case in point: this weekend’s fall-tastic events. Play carnival games at the Fall Festival, pick out a free (!) Halloween costume at the , and get your face painted at the pumpkin patch, too.

Our goal is to make the Get Out planner as reliable as possible, but keep in mind, some events change at the last minute. We advise calling ahead just in case.

Why Go: Everyone is invited to this annual Fall Festival. Play carnival games, eat great food, bid on a basket at the basket auction, buy sweet treats at the bake sale, listen to live music and browse local vendor tables, too. What a great way to kick off fall!

Pricing: Free admission and activities, nominal fee for items such as refreshments and bake sale goods

When/Where: Donate costumes up until Sept. 30 and “shop” this Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at the

Why Go: You can still donate your gently-used Halloween costumes by dropping them off at the , Community Center or . Then, this Saturday, those in need are invited to come shop for new Halloween costumes at no cost! You do not have to donate an old costume to pick out a new one.

Why Go: Promote your local business at this fun (and affordable) networking event. Everyone gets to stand up and give a one-minute “commercial” about their business, introduce themselves, and pass out business cards, all while enjoying great wine. Cheers to that!

Why Go: Enjoy live jazz in the library’s garden featuring popular duo Hart and Soul. Vocalist Jennifer Hart and pianist-arranger-composer Llew Matthews are true jazz pros. Hart’s vocals are impressive and

and Matthews has been Nancy Wilson’s musical director since 1987. There will be plenty of smooth music and appreciative applause in the garden this weekend.

Pricing: $50 premium seating, $30 concert seating, proceeds will benefit the library

When/Where: Open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. daily through Oct. 31 at Peltzer Farms, 39925 Calle Contento, Temecula

Why Go: This pumpkin patch features homegrown pumpkins (some giant), squash and gourds plus corn stalks and hay bales for fall decorating. Enjoy the old fashioned train, pony rides, petting farm, pig races, John Deere tractor collection, mound-o-hay, corn maze, face painting, ice cream, kettle corn and so much more.

Pricing: Free admission, most activities are free, $4 train rides, $5 pony rides, $4 per family for petting farm

You may see a few cyclists roll through town early Saturday as well.
