First Baby Born in Rancho Springs' New Women's Ward

Isabella Sparks was born at 3:55 p.m. to Suzauna Ramirez of Murrieta.

The new Women's Center at Rancho Springs Medical Center was officially open for business only six hours before the first baby was born.

Isabella Sparks was born at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday to Suzauna Ramirez of Murrieta. Baby Isabella weighed a healthy 7 pounds 12 ounces and was welcomed by 10 family members, including the father, Darold Sparks.

"The spacious labor and delivery rooms in the newly opened area allowed multiple family members to be present for the family’s new addition," said Summer Scott, spokeswoman for Southwest Healthcare System, in an e-mail.

It was the first child for Ramirez, who is a PBX operator at Rancho Springs Medical Center. “I have always had a good experience here, even before I was an employee everyone was always so nice to me," Ramirez said.

According to Scott, Ramirez was aware the Women’s Center was opening on March 8, which coincidentally was her due date for Isabella.
