Excessive Heat Warning Canceled

In Murrieta, temperatures in the high 80s were forecasted for Wednesday through Sunday, with a high temperature of 88 degrees expected on Thursday, the Fourth of July.

The long Fourth of July weekend just got a little more comfortable for Murrieta residents.

The excessive heat warning that had been affecting the Inland Empire for the last several days has been canceled by the National Weather Service.

"Although temperatures have cooled some from the very hot temperatures of last weekend...it will still be hot each day with warm nights through Independence Day," the NWS said early Wednesday in a broadcasted message. "Additional minor cooling is expected for Friday through the weekend."

Low overnight temperatures were expected to be in the low 60s, with patchy fog building up during the nighttime hours.
