City of Murrieta Holiday Magic Guide

The city of Murrieta is once again treating its residents to a festive, activity-filled holiday season.

At 5 p.m. Saturday, the city will host its along Washington Avenue, from Ivy Street to Kalmia Street in Historic Downtown Murrieta.

Leading up to Saturday's parade, the Historic Downtown Murrieta Association is hosting a from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Washington and C Street. Complete with food, carolers, photos with Santa and vendors, HDMA invites everyone out.

Are you the Griswold Family of Murrieta? Find out by entering the city's Holiday Home Decorating Contest. To enter, pick up an entry form at the starting Thursday or enter online at Murrieta.org. Entries must be received by noon on Dec. 7. Judging will take place on the weekend of Dec. 11, weather permitting. (Stay tuned for details about Patch's holiday decorating contest.)

There's more. Children can receive a personalized letter from Santa Claus himself. Call the Murrieta Community Services Department at 951-461-6086 or go on the city's website to enter your child’s name, address, zip code, your name and telephone number. Addresses must be in Murrieta. Santa’s elves will mail letters starting Thursday through Dec. 16. Please wait until Thursday to submit your information.

The city of Murrieta is hosting a Holiday Toy and Food Drive. Beginning Thursday through Dec. 20., the city will be collecting new, unwrapped toys and canned goods for local agencies to distribute to families in need in the community this holiday season. Drop off items at any of the five fire stations, the Community Center, the Senior Center or City Hall. Additionally, when residents see Santa coming through their neighborhood to visit their star, they may donate toys or canned goods to one of Santa’s helpers. Santa Claus will be seen in Murrieta weeknights beginning Monday through Dec. 14. From 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., go to the nearest white star painted on the street when you hear “Here Comes Santa Claus” played in your neighborhood before the arrival of the parade. Santa will be accompanied by a holiday choir, Rudolph and a Jolly Elf. He will be traveling down the major streets of various tracts within the city.
