Another Earthquake Strikes Southwest Riverside County

Today's quake was centered southeast of Hemet.

Another earthquake rattled Southwest Riverside County Tuesday afternoon.

The 3.4-magnitude temblor struck at 12:44 p.m. and was centered near Valle Vista, 8 miles southeast of Hemet, according to the U.S. Geological Society.

This is about 28 miles north, northwest of Murrieta. Residents throughout southwest Riverside County reported experiencing the quake.

It was followed by several aftershocks, the first being a 2.6-magnitude, at 12:45 p.m., USGS reported.

Today’s jolt follows a that struck the area Monday morning about 1 mile west of San Juan Capistrano—also reportedly felt in Murrieta.
