3.1 Earthquake Felt in Murrieta

The quake struck at 5:03 a.m. Friday, 2.2 miles northeast of Hemet.

A seismic activity map shows much of Southwest Riverside County shook lightly from an earthquake that struck near Hemet early Friday.

The 3.1-magnitude quake struck at 5:03 a.m. Friday, a little more than two miles east northeast of Hemet, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The map shows residents of Murrieta and Temecula reported experiencing weak to light tremors as it occurred.
