Starbucks with Drive-Thru Coming to Los Alamos Road

Murrieta's newest Starbucks, just east of I-215, will open this spring, a company representative said.

The building in the Murrieta Gateway Center that formerly housed the Murrieta Public Library is being transformed into a Starbucks, a company representative confirmed Monday.

“Starbucks is always looking for great locations to better meet the needs of our customers, and we are happy to confirm that we will be opening a new location with a drive-thru on Los Alamos Road in Murrieta this spring,” a Starbucks spokesperson wrote in an emailed response to Patch.

The building at 39589 Los Alamos Road, just east of Interstate 215, has for the most part sat vacant since 2007 when the Library moved to its new, permanent location at 8 Town Square.

While construction of the Starbucks is underway—a drive-thru window appears to be complete—there are detours in place for motorists entering and exiting the main driveway of shopping center.

This newest location will bring the total number of Starbucks in Murrieta back to five.

In spring 2013, the Starbucks on Hancock Avenue in the Stater Bros. center was shuttered. The company at that time said it was planning to open another but did not disclose the location.

Oh they weren't happy enough running Olivera's out of the Stater bros plaza??.. now they have to move in on the little donut shop in the post office plaza.. wth?? BTW.. That little donut shop has the best donuts around.. they remind me of Dunkin's donuts.. again best donuts around.. I really despise corporate bullies..
Alek J Hidell January 27, 2014 at 07:55 PM
uhh, duh, best donuts next to Starbucks? win-win situation. I doubt they're complaining...
Dorothy January 27, 2014 at 08:00 PM
Alek I think you're wrong with a win-win situation..
LBV Collins January 27, 2014 at 08:47 PM
Humph... I was wondering what they were building there. / And I agree Steve Newman: It is messing up the entrance to the post office.
Jeff Kleiner January 27, 2014 at 10:00 PM
It's called Capitalism. Play at your own risk.
Alek J Hidell January 27, 2014 at 10:18 PM
I don't think starbucks minds if you bring outside donuts, as long as you buy their coffee. And vice versa--might work out if they get crowded. Starbucks next to Slater Bros sure was.
Brenda January 28, 2014 at 05:05 AM
Oh, and that is where the donut shop is. We have went there from the Mall to just get the donuts!! Steve? Black coffee? Even military men, cops, firemen drink the good sweet stuff now!! My husband, oh big ole military guy drank his black till he met me, LOL. Now he has to have his sweetened caramel cream's and vanilla baretta cream's at home in our fridge!! None of this going out and paying 8 bucks for a cup of coffee!! Its past time Steve, time to lighten up your coffee a little bit at a time and you will get used to it :) SA and Annie G, both right too. Keep a Starbucks cup with you with your home brew in it, laptop, black hair, tight pants, and grab the donut from next door, and see if Starbucks runs you out? I bet they don't. They really do have an open door kind of policy.
Chris January 28, 2014 at 10:03 AM
@Brenda -- Just FYI regarding your first post... Starbucks stand alone locations are all corporate owned. They are not franchised.
ChrisG January 28, 2014 at 10:24 AM
Starbucks coffee is too expensive and tastes like crap.
ChrisG January 28, 2014 at 10:26 AM
But, obviously a lot of people like it and are will to dish out the cash.
Nell January 28, 2014 at 11:11 AM
I, for one, am THRILLED. If you don't like it, don't go there. See how simple that is? ...or, if you prefer, sit in front of your computer and write comments while you drink your Diet Cokes. Cause there is no big business there. Cheers!
SA January 28, 2014 at 11:54 AM
@Communist capitalism gave you everything that you use to live today… So take notes tonight when the ‘black Stalin’ is listening to himself speak as those notes will tell you how to destroy a society while lining your pockets…
Desert Dweller January 28, 2014 at 12:05 PM
@SA, you believe in hard work and pride, there is your generation gap. I like a cup of black coffee myself, something Starbucks does very poorly, however asking for the Pikes Peak with a french press is pretty good as long as they don't use too hot of water.
Laura January 28, 2014 at 12:22 PM
@ Jeff Kleiner- I'll meet you at Starbucks when it opens for some intelligent conversation. Unlike what you find here. Most not even worth engaging.
SA January 28, 2014 at 12:47 PM
@Laura … but you just did engage … So how say you?
SA January 28, 2014 at 12:49 PM
@ Dweller … Well said in regards to the ‘gap’ … Pikes Peak is good tea…
Laura January 28, 2014 at 12:56 PM
@SA Yes, I did. But not with you. Wouldn't have engaged you at all, but didn't want to be rude.
Annie G. January 28, 2014 at 12:57 PM
hey all those not into this starbucks- ever think if we all got together and took all the seats wearing skinny jeans and black hair never ordering much it would shut them down? goes both ways
SA January 28, 2014 at 02:08 PM
@Laura you just did again … (Not that it ruffled me) nevertheless when you state that you are not being rude but your prior comment was condescending and meant to insult .. At what point are you being nice?
Katie Rucker January 28, 2014 at 02:15 PM
Oh wow, more jobs are being brought to Murrieta in a building that has been sitting empty for years, and everyone is complaining. I'm so surprised.
Nell January 28, 2014 at 03:05 PM
Right, Katie?! It puts a VERY lucrative business in a building that has been "mostly empty" for the last 7 or so years AND creates jobs. The City survives off taxes (property and sales) for the most part and these narrow minded complainers throw a fit. I mean, just look at the picture. The building and landscaping improvements alone were much needed.
Jeff Kleiner January 28, 2014 at 03:17 PM
Laura, I would welcome meeting you anytime. You're right conservatives are just incredible racist, prejudiced, discriminating boars. Anywhere, anytime Stevie......name the place......oh thats right, you can't be trusted when you promise something.
ChrisG January 28, 2014 at 03:37 PM
@jeff, do you mean to say conservatives are feral pigs? Or bores? There's a difference.
Jeff Kleiner January 28, 2014 at 04:14 PM
They both play in the muck, scum and feces, so I meant both
ChrisG January 28, 2014 at 04:41 PM
ChrisG January 28, 2014 at 04:42 PM
But you've still fallen for the lib BS that is creating a country of haves and have-nots. Too bad.
Laura January 28, 2014 at 05:00 PM
You are a nut job, S. Newman. You're taking things way too serious. Do you really need to spout personal bs on the internet about others? Calm down.
Brenda January 28, 2014 at 05:32 PM
Chris without the G, thank you for correcting as I did not know that bit of info. Interesting. Steve, black coffee and sex is your train of thought, yep, cant teach a ole dog new tricks :) Muahahaha. Laura? I still dont know what point you are making concerning your thoughts on the new Starbucks? Oh and Annie, I could not fit my big toe into a pair of black skinny jeans with a ahh.....wench, so forget that idea!
B-Cat January 28, 2014 at 06:24 PM
A Starbucks drive thru? Heres a chance to spill some in my lap, how hot do they make it? ha ha, just kidding. I guess a drive thru is ok but it leaves behind the original idea of a place to sit for a while in a comfortable chair reading the paper with coffee to sip either before the craziness of the day begins or just to chill out. Either way i wish the business good luck.
Alek J Hidell January 28, 2014 at 06:59 PM
Laura left in disgust long ago, Kleiner.... You're ranting again...
