Rancho Springs Marks Historical Step in Surgery for the Region

Rancho Springs Medical Center now offers the world's most advanced system for minimally invasive surgery, according to a news release.

Murrieta, CA – Southwest Healthcare System’s Rancho Springs Medical Center has added the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System, a platform for minimally invasive surgery that utilizes the most advanced robotic technology to enhance surgical capabilities and serve as an alternative to many traditional, open surgeries and conventional laparoscopic procedures.

With the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System, surgeons’ on-staff at Rancho Springs are able to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with remarkable precision. Rancho Springs Medical Center is the first and only hospital in Southwest Riverside County to offer this highly advanced robotic technology.

The da Vinci® SiTM has several unique features designed to provide additional clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room, many of which translate to patient benefits. Features of the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System include:

  • Enhanced 3 dimensional, high definition vision of operative field with up to 10 times magnification
  • New optical dual console allows second surgeon to provide assistance Superior visual clarity of tissue and anatomy
  • Surgical dexterity and precision far greater than even the human hand
  • An additional robotic “arm” that expands the types of procedures that can be performed

Dr. Charles Yang from Temecula Valley OB/GYN and a surgeon on-staff at Rancho Springs Medical Center was the first to operate with the new robotic system. Dr. Yang, stated, “We are extremely happy to have the da Vinci® SiTM here at Rancho Springs. The benefits are wonderful. The recovery time is much faster and there’s much less pain for the patient.”

Dr. Yang’s first surgical procedure with the da Vinci® SiTM was a hysterectomy.

He further stated, “Most of these patients would have up to a three-day hospital stay. But with this robotic technology and depending on the specific procedure, they could be home the same day.”
