Murrieta's Unemployment Data Released

October numbers announced by the California Employment Development Department.

Riverside County's unemployment rate was unchanged last month at 12 percent, as job growth in most sectors offset sizable losses in others.

The county's non-seasonally adjusted jobless rate in October did not fluctuate from September, according to the California Employment Development Department.

The rate, however, was 1.5 percentage points below the level of a year ago, when unemployment stood at 13.5 percent.

Public sector payrolls grew by the largest amount -- 6,000 -- as teachers and other workers in grade schools and colleges returned from summer recess.

Trade, transportation and utilities, along with the professional and business services sector, together added 4,100 positions. The remaining sectors, including agriculture, boosted employment by 3,300.

The state's non-seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 9.8 percent.
