Kaiser Eying Murrieta for Large Medical Facility

It's possible that Murrieta could become the location for a large Kaiser Permanente medical facility, The Press-Enterprise reported Monday.

The health care provider has submitted conceptual plans—a pre-application—for a facility 900,000-square-foot campus at the northeast corner of Keller Road and Interstate 215 near Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta, City of Murrieta Economic Development Director told the newspaper.

In 2012, Kaiser, which serves about 84,000 residents of southwest Riverside County, submitted similar conceptual plans for a facility in Temecula. Click here to read more about that.

Kaiser currently has a facility in Wildomar that has an urgent care, laboratory, a pharmacy and various medical offices. It offers similar services at a Temecula building off of Jefferson Avenue, but no urgent care.

Currently, Kaiser subscribers who need emergency services other than what can be treated at urgent care often travel to the Kaiser hospital in Riverside or go to the nearest local emergency room.
