Historic Downtown Murrieta Antique Shops Throwing Saturday Affair

Add something new, something old or something sparkly to your collection by stopping by "Glitz & Junque: A Vintage Market" tomorrow in Historic Downtown Murrieta.

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, four antique/specialty shops will add a little extra to the shopping experience with prizes and refreshments, and a chance to send some love to soldiers.

All located in Historic Downtown Murrieta, the shops taking part in the event are , , Cottage Charm and Boutique. (Click the links for addresses.)

It is the inaguaral "Glitz and Junque," and shop owners said the goal is to organize the same event every three months.

Saturday, shoppers can stop by any of the four locations for special deals. Each shop will have a map to the other locations, said Simply Friends co-owner Debi Feeney.

At Simply Friends, shoppers can purchase embroidered pillowcases to send to soldiers. Each pillowcase will go for $7.50 and will be shipped to Wounded Soldiers as well as active-duty military.

And Feeney said the excitement is only building, as a fifth shop will soon be added to the mix in the downtown area. Vintage Market is relocating its shop from Old Town Temecula to Historic Downtown Murrieta. That shop, to be located on the corner of C Street and Washington Avenue, will open July 1.
