Gov't Shutdown: Sam's Club Offering Free Temporary Membership to Military

Commissaries aboard Camp Pendleton—where the Military can purchase groceries at a discounted cost—were closed indefinitely as of Wednesday, which is why Sam's Club says it is offering the temporary program.

Sam's Club in Murrieta is among the chain's locations offering free temporary membership to members of the Military and their families during the partial government shutdown.

Commissaries aboard Camp Pendleton—where the Military can purchase groceries at a discounted cost—were closed indefinitely as of Wednesday, which is why Sam's Club says it is offering the temporary program.

A manager at the Murrieta location, 40500 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, confirmed Thursday that service members should bring their Military ID to the registration desk upon entering the store.

At that point, they will be issued a temporary Sam's Club membership card so they can shop for the supplies they need, the manager told Patch.

The temporary membership fee waiver applies to active and retired Military personnel and their spouses, Militaryspouse.com reported.

Call Sam's Club at 951-696-4500 with any questions.
