Noise From Camp Pendleton Training Expected This Week

The exercises are scheduled from 6 a.m. to midnight each day.

Explosions are expected to be heard in southwest Riverside County as live-fire exercises take place at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base through Friday.

Troops are conducting training exercises that include firing high-explosive munitions into the Whisky/Zulu impact areas of the base, according to an advisory issued by base officials.

The exercises include mortar and live-artillery fire and are scheduled from 6 a.m. to midnight each day.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
