Cindy spends countless hours as a volunteer for this organization because she believes in it. She reaches out to the middle schools in the valley to get them to nominate candidates.
Cindy has been working with a program called Tech Trek for the past couple of years. Tech Trek is a scholarship-based week long math/science camp in the summer for girls who are entering 8th grade. The girls get to live in a dorm at UCSD and explore science and math topics.

Tech Trek specifically tries to help girls that may be underprivileged, and may not have opportunities like this otherwise. It inspires them to go on to college and pursue math/science/technology careers where women are traditionally underrepresented.
Last summer, Cindy volunteered to spend a week at UCSD as a dorm mother for a group of girls at Tech Trek Camp. When she returned back from camp, she was asked to take over the program as coordinator of Tech Trek for the Temecula Valley.
Cindy also speaks to the families about the nomination and interview process. She works with businesses in the valley to try to get donations so they can send more girls to camp. She also does all the paperwork and interviews the candidates to select who will win the scholarship to go to camp.
Cindy wants to help the young women in our community to believe that they can do anything they set goals to do, and have a future that will make a difference in the world.
