Murrieta Police Investigating Bank Robbery

The robbery was reported just before 3 p.m. Monday at Pacific Western Bank, 41831 Kalmia St. in Murrieta.

An investigation is underway into the robbery Monday afternoon of a Murrieta bank, a police lieutenant confirmed.

Murrieta police Lt. Ron Driscoll said the robbery was reported just before 3 p.m. Monday at Pacific Western Bank, 41831 Kalmia St.

"...A male suspect presented a note demanding cash and an undisclosed amount of cash was given to the suspect," Driscoll said. "He fled outside the bank."

Driscoll said officers immediately responded and set up a perimeter of the outlying areas in an effort to locate the suspect.

A Riverside County sheriff's helicopter crew assisted in that effort, he said.

The suspect was not immediately located.

The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic man in his 20s, wearing a dark-colored beanie, a dark shirt with an orange undershirt and tan sweat pants.

Driscoll said the robbery would remain under investigation.

As of 4:30 p.m., officers remained on scene.
