Thank you for pointing this out Alek. What you are referring to is not a sales tax. As I understand it is a Medicare tax. Also, it is not limited to real estate, but to gains on investments. Additionally, it affects home sellers, not buyers. And as you point out, it typically only affects the very wealthy. (Those in the top 3 percent of wage earners.)
