Youth Art Showcase Set for Saturday

The city of Murrieta's inaugural Art Showcase, featuring the work of local youth between 12 and 18 years old, is set for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Murrieta Senior Center.

Artwork by local youth with be on display Saturday, May 19, at the Murrieta Senior Center for the city's inaugural Art Showcase.

The showcase, to be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., gives youth between 12 and 18 years old a chance to display their art for friends, family and local art aficionados, according to City Recreation Coordinator Beau Davis.

"The next Vincent Van Gogh or Ansel Adams could be in that room and you'll have a chance to see their work first," Davis said, in a news release.

Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and juice will be served as guests stroll through the gallery in the , 41717 Juniper Street.

Admission is free, however, a donation box will be available. Any proceeds will go toward local high school art departments and be used to keep funding showcases such as this, according to Davis.

The inagaural showcase is being sponsored by the city of Murrieta Youth Advisory Committee and Gem of the Valley Art Association.
