Symphony Opens Season with Disney Concert

Inland Valley Symphony presents "Disney: Tale As Old As Time" as its season opener concert, set for 4 p.m. Sept. 22.

The Inland Valley Symphony, conducted by Maestro Anthony Parnther, will present a concert like none other in the orchestra’s 17-year history.

Their 2012-13 season “opener” will feature the music and magical visuals of Disney, showcasing four Broadway-style vocalists. The concert will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Revival Christian Fellowship, 29220 Scott Road in Menifee.

This multi-media experience includes large screen projections of film clips and Disney animations accompanied by live orchestral music including songs “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” “Bella Notte,” “Part of Your World” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

"In order to accommodate the technical requirements of this production we have chosen the venue Revival Christian Fellowship in Menifee," said Alana Joos, president of Inland Valley Symphony.

IVS welcomes back vocalists Araceli Applegate and Stephen Van Dorn who both performed in last year’s opening concert CURTAINS UP! This is Broadway.  Jason Livesay and Lisa Livesay join the cast of singers that collectively have performed lead roles in countless musical productions in venues such as the Shrine Auditorium, Pantages Theater, Segerstrom Concert Hall and the Mark Taper Forum.  Lisa recently performed as Glinda on the national tour of "WICKED" and has worked as a singer, dancer and narrator at Hong Kong Disneyland. She will soon be joining the touring production of Disney in Concert.

A program full of Disney memories awaits those willing—with a little “pixie dust”—to follow the hearts of our animated friends from the silver screen.  Presentation licensed by Disney Music Publishing © Disney.

The Inland Valley Symphony’s next two concerts are THRILLER! at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and A Christmas Festival on at 2 p.m . and 7 p.m. Dec. 15, in joint concert with the Temecula Valley Master Chorale. Three additional programs are scheduled for 2013.

All remaining concerts will be held at Gershwin Performing Arts Center, Murrieta Mesa High School, 24801 Monroe Ave., Murrieta.

"The word symphony does not have to stand for 'stuffy' and we believe our approach to programming is appealing to a wide demographic of music lovers with some of them experiencing a live orchestra for the first time," Joos said. "This is truly an exciting time of growth as we enter our 18th season. Last year three out of five of our concerts were sold out."
