Lightning in a Bottle Festival to Benefit Local Education Program

Lightning in a Bottle Music and Arts Festival—slated for July 11-15 at Lake Skinner—has chosen to donate a portion of its proceeds to the Santa Rosa Plateau Foundation's "No Child Left Inside" Environmental Education Program.

Lightning in a Bottle Arts and Music Festival, to be held July 11-15 at Lake Skinner near Murrieta, will donate a portion of its ticket sales proceeds to a local nonprofit, it was announced Tuesday.

The "green music" festival has traditionally been held in Orange County but is coming to Southwest Riverside County for the first time in its nine-year history. Attendees come from all over the world to attend the festival that is billed as a "unique and popular celebration of art, sustainability, music, performance, and life itself," according to a news release.

The festival has chosen Santa Rosa Plateau Foundation, which provides "No Child Left Inside," an environmental education program for local schoolchildren, as the local nonprofit to which it will donate a portion of this year's proceeds.

"The missions of the two organizations are aligned," organizers stated. "Both believe that with hard work and a spirit of positive community, the seeds of lasting, sustainable change can take place for our environment, natural places and the greater community."

Organizers of Lightning in a Bottle stated that while the event shares many of the same components of lineups, stages and infrastructure familiar to music festivals, "there is an intentional structure within the festival allowing for workshops and interactive experiences to inspire attendees to take action for positive, lasting and sustainable change in our environment, community and for the greater good."

LIB strives to be a greater expression each year, organizers stated.

"We take pride in curating local up-and-coming music talent and international world renowned artists," said Dede Flemming, executive producer and co-founder of Lightning in a Bottle. "We paved the way for live painting at our events with Lightning in a Paintcan, which is headed up by our very own non-profit The Do Art Foundation, whose efforts fund initiatives that are far reaching in the art world. We host speakers and workshops on topics of sustainability, spirituality and child-friendly entertainment. Behind everything we do at LIB is a deep commitment to our environment and our sustainability practices which we continually strive to improve every year.”

“The Santa Rosa Plateau Foundation is excited and humbled by LIB’s selection of our organization as a beneficiary of the event,” said Ginger Greaves, executive director of SRPF. “This unique family-friendly event has grown in stature, attendance and relevance over the years. Our underlying objectives to bringing attention to our environment and the natural world are in sync.”
