Teen Open Mic Night at the Library

Teens are invited to celebrate National Poetry Month at the Murrieta Public Library's  second annual "Open Mic Night” at 6 p.m. April 26  in the Library's Community Room.

In 1996 the Academy of American Poets inaugurated National Poetry Month which occurs every April  to celebrate poetry and its importance to the American culture. During the month, libraries, schools, publishers and booksellers band together to celebrate poets and poetry.

In recognition of this celebration, teens in grades eight through 12 are invited to come to the Murrieta Library to read their original poetry or favorite poems, or to come and listen to the poetry readings.
