The tale of Little Orphan Annie is as timeless now as when it debuted as a comic strip in the New York Daily News in 1924. American composer and lyricist Charles Strouse won his third Tony Award (and also two Grammy Awards) for the original stage adaptation of Annie in 1977. The music shines today as much as it did when it debuted. Featuring such hits as “Tomorrow,” “It’s the Hard-Knock Life,” “Maybe,” and “NYC,” CYT Riverside County’s actors are sure to inspire as well.

Growing up in Depression-era New York City, Annie is determined to find her parents and overcome the harsh conditions of the orphanage run by the bitter Miss Hannigan. Annie befriends stray dog Sandy, inspires her fellow orphans through her uplifting spirit and eventually finds a new home and family thanks to the generosity and love of billionaire Oliver Warbucks.

The role of Lily St. Regis will be played by Natalie Hanson, who brings an operatic voice to the role. The show is being directed by Jennifer Lloyd.

CYT Riverside County is a non-profit theater arts training program for students ages 4-18. CYT offers a variety of singing, dancing and performance classes as well as Broadway-style musicals in the fall, winter and spring.
