Why Spay or Neuter?

Keeping the unwanted pet population down begins with spaying and neutering.

Four million cats and dogs—about one every eight seconds—are put down in U.S. shelters each year, according to the Humane Society of the United States.

Here at home, a staggering number of wonderful cats and dogs that end up at Southwest Communities Animal Shelter in Wildomar are euthanized every year.

Keeping the unwanted pet population down begins with spaying and neutering. It’s the only 100-percent effective method of birth control for pets. By having your animal altered, you can be a part of the solution.

And if you are considering a new four-legged companion, adopt a homeless pet from the shelter (see attached photo gallery for some of the animals awaiting loving families). Southwest Communities Animal Shelter currently has dozens and dozens of puppies and kittens, as well as adult animals, to choose from. All adoptions include spay or neuter as part of the adoptive process.

Save a life and make a difference by adopting from a shelter and ensuring all your pets are spayed and neutered.
