Waste Management to Pick up Discarded Christmas Trees in Murrieta

Waste Management of the Inland Empire asks Murrieta residents to place their old Christmas trees at the curb on their amended collection days through Jan. 5.

The following is information from Waste Management of the Inland Empire regarding the Christmas tree recycling pickup schedule for Murrieta:

For Waste Management customers in Murrieta, we will be collecting Christmas trees through Jan. 5 on their regular collection day amended for the delayed service after Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

We ask customers to please remove all decorations from their unflocked trees including tree stands, cut their trees and place them inside their green waste container. For customers with flocked trees, we ask they cut and place inside their trash container. Only unflocked trees are recycled. We also ask customers to please cut their tree so that the cart lid can close.  If customers are unable to place their trees out for recycling by Jan. 5, they may call to schedule a bulk item pick-up at 1-800-423-9986.

Please note: Trees will be collected by flatbed trucks. Customers may see their normal side load trucks pass without picking up their trees; however, a flatbed truck will be canvassing the area after service trucks to recover trees.

Another option: Riverside County Residential customers can also drop off their trees at county landfills for free or at specified recycling centers for use in local lakes to preserve the smaller fish population. (Call the county at 951-486-3200 for additional information.) Commercial customers will be charged the green waste tipping fee for any tree drop off.
