The Temecula office of the California Department of Motor Vehicles may experience more patrons this month due to a maintenance closure of a nearby office.
As of 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, the Hemet DMV at 1200 S. State St. was closed and will remain so until 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 for HVAC equipment replacement, according to a news release.
The Hemet DMV serves an average of 585 customers a day. Its 34 staff members will be temporarily reassigned to nearby locations during the renovation, DMV stated in the Dec. 26, 2013 news release.
Customers who would typically conduct their DMV business in Hemet were advised to visit one of these nearby field offices:
Temecula Field Office at 27851 Diaz Road in Temecula
Banning Field Office: 1034 W Ramsey Street in Banning
Palm Springs Field Office: 950 N Farrell Drive in Palm Springs.
The Hemet office, which opened in 1989, is one of several facilities slated for maintenance, repair or renovation projects this year, according to the DMV.
“DMV typically schedules about a dozen closures each year for varying lengths of time to address infrastructure deficiencies, upgrade mechanical and electrical systems and replace equipment and finishes.”
Customers were also reminded to “Save Time, Go Online!” The California DMV website— https://www.dmv.ca.gov/ — allows motorists to conduct transactions including online advance appointments for written and drive tests; vehicle registration and driver license renewals, selection of personalized license plates, changes of address and payment of fees via secure debit transactions.
“Customers can also effect transactions by calling DMV customer service at 800-777–0133.”
DMV is a department under the California State Transportation Agency.
