Service Restored to Murrieta Customers After Water Main Break

The water main break occurred at Nutmeg Street and Gingerbread Drive, leaving an estimated 45 customers without service from approximately 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., according to Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District.

Some residents were without water in Murrieta when a water main broke Thursday morning.

The water main break occurred at Nutmeg Street and Gingerbread Drive, leaving an estimated 45 customers without service from approximately 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., according to Greg Morrison, spokesperson for Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District, which services that portion of Murrieta.

"Service has been restored, but water pressure may be a little lower than usual until the line is repaired and back in full service," Morrison said, in an email to Patch.

EVMWD expects the water main to be fully repaired by the end of the day, Morrison said.

Murrieta police and firefighters responded when the break was first reported.

"We were working with the water company initially to control the leak," said Murrieta fire Chief Matt Shobert.

The rush of water due to the break reportedly caused some street damage.

As of 9:45 a.m. Thursday, water district crews were still on scene, and Gingerbread was closed at Nutmeg. One lane was also closed on Nutmeg approaching the intersection.

Street repairs should be complete by the middle of next week, Morrison said.
