Respite From Rain Will be Short-Lived

Though the sun peeped out Thursday afternoon and puffy white clouds popped out of a cool, blue sky, showers were expected to revisit Murrieta later.

Morning showers Thursday in Murrieta gave way to blue skies in the afternoon but forecasters with the National Weather Service predicted more rain into the night.

Highs near 66 degrees were expected, though thunderstorms were forecast as well, with the possibility of dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, the NWS reported.

These showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing brief heavy rain, gusts and lightning strikes.

Motorists were urged to slow down when the rain begins, as visibility could suddenly decrease, fog could set in and roads may become slick.

There is a 20 percent chance of rain forecast for Friday, with a high temperature of 70 and partly sunny skies expected.

The land should begin heating up again Saturday -- a high of 81 is forecast -- with the mercury hitting 90 on Sunday, becoming ever hotter into next week.
