Nighttime Closures of I-15 in Murrieta Scheduled This Week

Closures of Interstate 15 in Murrieta are scheduled to begin tonight and run through Thursday night. Detour information is posted below.

Full closures of Interstate 15 in Murrieta are scheduled to take place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights this week as work continues on the Los Alamos Road overpass bridge widening project.

The closures are so that the contractor, Coffman Specialties, Inc. of San Diego, can place structural steel support beams over Interstate 15 at the overpass, according to a notice posted on the City of Murrieta’s website.

Here are the dates and times of the scheduled closures:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 15: full southbound closure from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. (Between California Oaks Road/Kalmia Street and Murrieta Hot Springs Road)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16: full southbound closure from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. (Between California Oaks Road/Kalmia Street and Murrieta Hot Springs Road)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16: full northbound closure from midnight to 5 a.m. (Between Murrieta Hot Springs Road and California Oaks Road/Kalmia Street)
  • Thursday, Oct. 17: full northbound closure from midnight and until 5 a.m.(Between Murrieta Hot Springs Road and California Oaks Road/Kalmia Street)

There will also be correlating ramp closures, according to Amr Abuelhassan, project engineer.

The southbound on-ramp from California Oaks Road/Kalmia Street will be closed to accommodate the southbound freeway closures on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

The northbound freeway on-ramp from Murrieta Hot Springs Road will be closed for the northbound closures on Wednesday and Thursday.

Detour information is as follows:

  • All southbound traffic will exit at California Oaks Road and drivers will be directed to Madison Avenue then to Murrieta Hot Springs Road and then back on the freeway.
  • All northbound traffic will exit at Murrieta Hot Springs Road and drivers will be directed to Madison Avenue then to California Oaks Road and then back on the freeway.
