Murrieta Mom Challenges Others to Run a 'Marathon'

Between May 1 and May 31, runners can log on to Joggermom.com to log their miles.

For those who have always wanted to run a 26.2-mile marathon but did not have the time to train or thought that was a race just for true athletes, they now can say they ran a marathon without having to run all 26.2 miles in one day.

Joggermom.com is launching a virtual marathon that takes place at one’s pace, beginning on May 1 and ending May 31, giving moms a full month to complete the marathon. There is no cost to enter and participants will have an opportunity to win a 2011 Baby Jogger 25th anniversary stroller, 2011 B.O.B. Revolution SE stroller, fitness classes, active apparel and other prizes totaling more than $1,700.

“As a mom and avid runner, I understand how difficult it is to fit exercise into one’s schedule,” said Kelly Morse, founder of Joggermom.com. “The concept of the virtual marathon is to give moms the opportunity to complete a marathon at their own pace and feel great about themselves.”

The Joggermom Marathon is not about who finishes first with the fastest time, Morse said, it’s about finishing what one starts and it’s easy to enter. Log on to Joggermom.com for complete rules and regulations and start running or walking.

Joggermom.com has also created a Marathon Forum so moms can share their daily mileage, tell funny stories about their children or give advice on what running products work for them.
