Daughters Of The American Revolution To Meet

The special guest speaker for the meeting will be Christine Gentry.

The Luiseno Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on Feb. 28 in Temecula. 

The venue for the meeting is the Grace Mellman Community Library, off County Center Drive; the library is a new location for the meeting.

The special guest speaker for the meeting will be Christine Gentry, who is a member of the California State Society DAR Speakers Bureau, as well as a District Representative on the Veterans Services Committee.  She will be speaking on “Volunteering with Veterans."

DAR meetings are open to any woman interested in tracing her heritage to ancestors of the American Revolution.  Luiseno Chapter Registrar, Marsha Timberlake, will provide guidance and assistance to anyone wishing to apply for membership. 

The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890.  Currently, there are approximately 165,000 members in the 3,000 chapters throughout the United States and 11 foreign countries.

Any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to become a member.  A patriot is described as someone who may have fought in the war, given arms, funds, medical or other supplies, taken the Oath of Allegiance, or in any way contributed to the cause.
