Long-Term Closure of I-215 On-Ramp in Perris Begins Monday

The long-term closure of the Interstate 215 northbound D Street on-ramp in Perris is part of the I-215 Central Project, which adds one lane in each direction of the freeway between Nuevo Road in Perris and Scott Road in Menifee.

A long-term closure of the Interstate 215 northbound D Street on-ramp in Perris will begin the morning of Monday, Sept. 23 to allow construction crews to replace the D Street bridge over the freeway. The on-ramp will be closed until late summer 2014.

Drivers can use the northbound on-ramp at Nuevo Road as a detour. Drivers coming from the south can head north on Redlands Avenue and west on Nuevo Road to re-enter the freeway. Alternatively, drivers can take A Street north to Nuevo Road, and then head east on Nuevo to the northbound on-ramp.

The southbound off-ramp will remain open, with the exception of night-time closures, and access to businesses along D Street will be preserved.

The bridge replacement is part of the Riverside County Transportation Commission’s I-215 Central Project, which adds one lane in each direction of the freeway between Nuevo Road in Perris and Scott Road in Menifee. The D Street bridge is being replaced to accommodate the addition of these lanes.

Project construction began in February and is scheduled to be completed by mid-2015. The project is expected to add more than 1,800 jobs, reduce traffic delays and improve air quality. This $123.5 million project is primarily funded by State Proposition 1b and other state transportation funding sources. Once completed, the freeway will span three lanes in both directions from Interstate 15 in Temecula to State Route 60 in Riverside.
