Letter Carriers to Collect Food on Saturday to Stamp Out Hunger

The nation’s largest single-day food drive rallies communities to feed Americans in need.

Donating to food banks in Murrieta will be as easy as leaving a bag of non-perishable food by the mailbox on Saturday, when letter carriers will be collecting donations for their annual Stamp Out Hunger program.

To participate, simply leave a bag with canned food and other items that don't need refrigeration by the mailbox. Suggested items include canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, cereal, rice and fruit juice in plastic containers. Glass containers and expired food are not recommended.

Last year, letter carriers nationwide collected more than 70 million pounds of food in more than 10,000 communities. But with more than 50 million people, including nearly 17 million children, facing hunger in America, the fight for hunger relief continues.
