Happy Birthday, Murrieta! Annual Bash Promises Fun, Food and Fireworks on June 28

When the smell of kettle corn and cotton candy fills the air, along with the promise of a dazzling fireworks lighting up the sky later in the evening, it can only mean one thing: the annual Murrieta Birthday Bash is here.

In celebration of its 23rd anniversary of cityhood, the City of Murrieta plans to throw another spectacular party from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at California Oaks Sports Park.

The community is welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and pop-up shelters to comfortably enjoy the festivities; however, please note that all pets, barbecue grills, alcohol and smoking materials are not permitted at the event.

Just in time for the Fourth of July, the evening will be capped off with a Fireworks Spectacular.

Before that, the fun begins at 2 p.m. when a variety of carnival rides, games and vendors open for business. Wristbands for the rides cost $10.

Also don’t miss it when the ever-popular Firemans’ Hosedown—a tradition that involves the Murrieta Fire Department bringing out its big hoses to cool down the crowd amid the summer heat—takes place at 4 p.m.

But wait, there’s more!

At 5 p.m., live music will start on the main stage when the band, Southbound and Company plays.

At 7 p.m., get ready for Rock Fantasy to perform tributes to legends Jon Bon Jovi and Mick Jagger.

Organized by the City of Murrieta Community Services Department, this year’s event is sponsored by the University of Phoenix, Centerpoint Church of Murrieta and Navy Federal Credit Union.

“The Murrieta Birthday Bash is the event of the year where residents come out to celebrate the city and old friends who haven't seen each other reunite,” said Laura Frasso, special events coordinator for the City of Murrieta.

"It has a small town feel but with around 15,000 in attendance, shows that Murrieta has some fun events that the residents have come to love,” Frasso said. 
 
“The Birthday Bash with the Fireman Hosedown and Fireworks are a tradition that people wait all year for!”
