5 Things to Know in Murrieta Today: Feb. 27

The storm seems to have passed and sunny skies are expected.

1.) The storm seems to have passed, however, it is still expected to be very cold with temperatures falling near or below freezing in the valleys and local deserts, the National Weather Service reported. Patchy fog is expected before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m. With a high near 59, the day is expected to be clear; tonight, the low will be around 28. Bring out those extra blankets!

 2.) Rain or shine, the Murrieta’s Certified Farmers Market is expected to be up and running today. Located at 24500 Village Walk Place, browse and purchase locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables, jewelry, scarves and other unique items. Beginning at 9 a.m., come out and support local entrepreneurs!

3.) As of today Mulligan Family Fun Center will be closing its Blaster Boats attraction in order to build the first section of its water park. The first phase will include five water slides, lounge chairs, a splash area and cabanas, and will be available for children and adults of all ages. Mulligan anticipates re-opening this part of its park by the beginning of June. Until then, the attraction will be unavailable--keep this in mind if this is your favorite ride. 4.) Are you are writer looking to meet up with other writers? Join the Fiction Writers Workshop today for the weekly Early Risers - Interesting Characters Breakfast. 5.) Join James Franco and Anne Hathaway as they host the 83rd annual Academy Awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. Movies nominated for an Oscar include "Black Swan," "The King’s Speech," "The Fighter" and "Toy Story 3." Starting at 5:30 p.m., it will be televised on ABC. Or tune in a little early to check out the wardrobes and the banter that will be sure to be topics for discussion at the water cooler come Monday!
