5 Things to Know in Murrieta Sept. 27

Join the Murrieta Public Library for "Banned Books Week."

1. It will be hotter today, according to the National Weather Service. Today will be sunny with a high near 92. Tonight expect mostly clear skies with a low around 61.

3. Here's what's for lunch today at elementary schools in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District: taco nada. Lunches are served with a fresh fruit/salad bar and a choice of juice or milk. 4. The Luiseno Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution begins a new term at a new location today at 11:30 a.m. at The t, Jackson Avenue and California Oaks Road. Special presentations include guest speaker, Izella Dickey, CSSDAR Friendship Fund chairman, who will speak on "Daughters of the American Revolution: The Charge to Educate." Also speaking will be Joe Lawlor of the Murrieta Rotary Club, regarding the Murrieta Field of Honor project. DAR meetings are open to any woman interested in tracing her heritage to ancestors of the American Revolution. Luiseno Chapter meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month from September through May.

TRAFFIC ADVISORIES: The Riverside County Transportation Commission, the California Department of Transportation and the City of Murrieta are working to widen Interstate 215 to six lanes between Murrieta Hot Springs and Scott roads. The speed limit on I-215 through this area is now 55 mph for the duration of the project; traffic fines are doubled for those caught speeding. For tonight, closures are as follows:

INTERSTATE 215: Lane closures are scheduled for Interstate 215 between Clinton Keith and Scott roads. The southbound number one lane will experience intermittent closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. due a striping operation.

INTERSTATE 15: Both the northbound and southbound number three lanes will be closed at Murrieta Hot Springs Road. The southbound and northbound off-ramps at California Oaks Road will experience full closure between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Both are due to a k-rail installation.
