Menifee Toastmasters 2002786 Boast Post

Menifee Toastmasters Club 2002786 garnered organizational and member accolades at the annual officer installation luncheon on Saturday July 20.  The architecturally baroque Benedict Castle in Riverside provided the celebratory venue for acknowledging the newly elected district 12 officers, stellar clubs and earnest members of the organization.

Menifee Toastmasters is geographically located in the hub of District 12: Division C; Area C6.  Menifee Toastmaster Brian Walker was elected as the Area C5 Governor. Each area serves a number of clubs, however, District 12 is home to 100 clubs in the Southern California region, including Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Toastmasters International is composed of 14 global regions, reaching about 10 districts.  

The new District 12 officers are:  Michael Osur, DTM, Governor; Kent Peterson, DTM, Lt. Gov. Education and Training; Esther Phala, DTM, Lt. Gov. Marketing; Angie Nett, DTM, Public Relations; Mary Carnes, ACB, Secretary and Chris Carnes, CC, Treasurer.  Esther Phala and Brian Walker are members of Menifee Toastmasters 2002786.

“I’m looking forward to serving as area governor,” said Walker, who helped to charter the Menifee club in 2012.

“Toastmasters International is one of the finest, educational organizations offering public speaking amenities with affordable dues,” said Phala, who helped establish and accept a City of Menifee proclamation granted by Mayor Scott Mann declaring July as Toastmasters Awareness Month.

            In addition, David Cruz, 2012-2013 president of the club, has obtained a Distinguished Toastmaster credential (DTM), the highest Toastmaster educational accolade. 2002786 is also the recipient of the  President’s Distinguished Club Award for meeting specific criteria to achieve the top honor.

“Essentially, we have a notable club because of our all-star team. We keep our eye on the prize, helping our members to achieve public speaking goals, big or small,” said Mike Irvin, the 2013-2014 president of the club. “Guests are always welcome,” he said.

Cruz fills roles as VP of education and secretary; Al Kernik: VP of membership and webmaster; John Guzman: Treasurer; Lynda Giusti-Parra: VP of public relations and Danica Spurgeon: Sargeant-at-Arms.

Toastmasters International was founded by Ralph Smedley in 1924.  The club provides a friendly environment in which to practice public speaking and leadership roles. The notable organization serves over 280,000 members in 116 countries.
